Young and Sustainable at Pivot
Pop over to Pivot TONIGHT, Monday June 22nd, for a wonderful event featuring Frei Designs, Indo and Strand Design. These entrepreneurs have created businesses using sustainable methods. There will be a discussion of their inspirations and ideas. There will be snacks from River Valley Kitchens - portabella salsa, spinach artichoke dip and mushrooms and veggies to sample them! (You may have seen them at Green City Market or their items at Green Grocer before.)
Shopping will be open as well, and it's the last day of their 25/40 sale! (25% off one item, 40% off 2 or more)

The Siren of Sahel Shines
Clara Lawson Ames, a fashion designer from Burkina Faso, is bringing her haute couture creations to the United States, with a premiere at "The Siren of Sahel Shines" fashion show on June 19 at the Blackstone Hotel, Chicago. In each of her creations, Ms. Lawson Ames combines the rich fabrics of Vlisco along with techniques unique to Burkina Faso. The event will also feature five emerging fashion designers including Smail Akdim, of Morocco; Imane Ayissi, of Africa and France; Wanda Cobar, Chicago; Amanda Cutting, Chicago; and Martial Tapolo of Africa.
